The waterfalls of Murel, at Forges(19) 

Located 15 km north-west of Argentat, the waterfalls of Murel are formed by 3 successive waterfalls in the steep and wooded gorges of the Franche-Valeine which plunge into a maze of rocks before returning to calm And serenity to join the Dordogne.
The hiking trails (yellow markings) are listed in the document "Bol d'air" available free of charge from the Tourist Information office valley of the Dordogne in Argentat. This magical place will reveal successively three other natural cascades :

• The Great waterfall, which offers 13 m of fall in a basin and a circus (where, according to legend, would rest the old bells of the church of Albussac deposited in this place by the Devil in person)
• the two small waterfalls, plunging 1.5 m then more than 4 m (the Buffet of water) in a pot of black and deep water

The Devil's Gate

After recovering its calm, the brook of the Franche-Valeine peacefully joins that of the Souvigne of which it is an affluent.
This mysterious and unique place is preserved from all human intervention (except the yellow markings that can be found all along the route).
It remains one of the most beautiful achievements of the nature in the department.
It is for all these reasons that since May 6, 1966, a perimeter including the cascades of Murel and the cascade of the Prade is registered in the title of the picturesque sites of the department of Corrèze and then classified on April 16, 1980.
